Naughty Dog, the developers of Crash Bandicoot and the Uncharted series, recently shocked the gaming world by announcing that the PS3 is not capable of running a fourth game in the Uncharted series. Due to this announcement, industry fans and experts are now speculating even more wildly over the specs of the upcoming Playstation 4 system.

Uncharted has been a defining franchise for the PS3 platform and the original game showcased what the then new system was capable of doing. It had long been rumored that the PS3 system’s capabilities had not been properly utilized by any game developers but according to Naughty Dog, the Uncharted world has taken gamers as far as the PS3 can go.

So what does this announcement mean for fans of Sony’s Playstation platform? It remains to be seen exactly what improvements the PS4 will bring to the gaming world, but it’s almost a certainty that Sony will be beefing up the system enough to bring to life Naughty Dog’s vision of a continuation of the Uncharted series. The first three Uncharted games have sold a combined total of approximately 9.5 million copies, making the Playstation exclusive series both financially lucrative and a fan favorite.

While Playstation fans wait to see exactly what the PS4 will launch with, Naughty Dog’s latest game, The Last of Us, has just been announced. The teaser trailer shows a world torn apart by a virus, resulting in zombie type creatures that cause each remaining person to struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic nightmare.
